About Erika.
Photographing families with heart since 2000.
““I want to capture those precious little fleeting moments””
I always wanted a nickname growing up, but never really had one.
Looking back, though, it probably should have been Little Miss Paparazzi.
From snapping hundreds of photos on Christmas morning with my very first camera, to chasing down my ski school friends so I could make sure I had a photo of every single one of them, photography has always been part of who I am. Long before I understood settings or lighting, I understood moments.
From my very first job, one thing was clear: I had two love, photography and children.
I began my professional journey capturing “official SeaWorld photos with Shamu,” camera in hand, greeting families and photographing hundreds of children a day. Watching their faces light up in those fleeting moments was pure magic, and it confirmed what my heart already knew.
From working outdoors with Shamu, to starting my own senior portrait business while still in high school, to spending two years in out-of-state studio photography, photography has truly been life from the start. I’ve been a paid professional photographer since 2000, and in the early years my focus exclusively creating beautiful images filled with rich color and soft, airy light.
But everything changed when we welcomed our own babies into the world.
My vision behind the camera, and the philosophy behind my work, shifted in the most meaningful way.
It became less about perfection,
and more about presence.
Less about posed smiles,
and more about connection.
More about love.
Love is hard to describe, powerful enough to make your heart ache in the best way. The images I hope to create for your family are the kind where love simply pours off the frame. Tiny gummy grins. Big belly laughs. Quiet hugs with mom and dad. The fleeting, everyday moments that mean everything once you realize how quickly they pass.
Yes, we’ll still create portraits with beautiful light and timeless color.
But more than that, we’ll slow down, have fun, and let your family be fully yourselves, while I capture the pure, unguarded love that makes your story yours.
After more than two decades behind the camera, my greatest joy is still getting to know the families I photograph. Your season matters to me.
If you’d like to connect, I’d love to hear your story and welcome you in.
