The gem that is Horsepower Ranch | Orlando Family Photographer

Through the years I have gotten to know many of your families, here is a little peek into ours! As photographers, we tend to keep our camera tucked away and only bring it out for portrait sessions. Because let's be honest who wants to bring the "good camera" when you want to spend time with the family! With the holiday season in full swing, Friday night seemed like the perfect time to stop and enjoy the seasons and maaaybe take a few pictures. {To all the photographers reading this: I urge you...please please stop and take some time for your family!!} We planned to just stop by and pick out a few pumpkins but instead we were pleasantly surprised.

Horsepower Ranch is a sweet property that reminds me of growing up in the north; with hay rides, a haunted forest and a small town feel. Our daughter was super excited to see the deer, chickens, goats and most importantly the horses {which is great, since I am terrified of them...shh!!}. Once she was done talking to the animals, it was time to explore the BOUNCE HOUSE. This was her first time and she had a blast; the sun went down before we could get her to come out. If you have a chance, I highly recommend taking a drive out to Geneva...great family friendly activities and beautiful scenery! They even host birthday parties, will have to keep that in mind for the future!!

Photographers: Sometimes we are so focused on the portrait being perfect we miss out on amazing storytelling opportunities. These portraits are just a few from our adventure. I am so glad I decided to look past distracting backgrounds and my daughter's skirt being on backwards and focus on capturing fun memories!! Now to get me in front of the camera :)

Happy Halloween!!

Orlando Baby Photographer -Willow 4 Months

Dear Willow,

4 months, really? Oh how fast it has gone by. For a moment it makes me sad to think that you are already 4 months old, but than I realize you are my daughter forever. For the rest of my life, I will see you through each and every milestone of your sweet journey through life. From your first steps to your first words to your first day of school {tear} mommy will always be here. Mommy will be here to kiss your boo boos and to huge you close.

Sometimes, I still have to pinch myself about this forever part. Many things have come and gone, many of them loved and lost with pain to follow. But one thing is for sure, you are greatest gift of all. You are worth everything! For such a small little person you provide more unconditional love than mommy can begin to understand.

I can’t begin to express the joy of waking up to your huge smiles each and every morning. One day you will probably laugh at me as I reminisce over your first year in this world. But 1 day you will understand, when you set eyes on your own baby.  It is a love you can’t begin to explain but a love that takes full control of your heart and soul.

Well at 4 months, you are rolling from front to back & back to front.  So glad you saved that special moment for your daddy. He loves you more than anything and already speaks of his scare tactics for your boyfriends one day. You have the greatest daddy in world; never forget that!

You bring so much joy and happiness to our lives; I honestly can’t really remember life without you. I am truly enjoying every moment with you but I can’t wait to see the little princess you turn into.

My life’s mission is to ensure you feel every bit of love your mommy and daddy have for you!

Love you little babes!

My wish for you... {Orlando Newborn Photographer}

Dear Willow,

Mommy loves you more and more with each passing day. I didn’t really think it was possible to love you so much. The past month did not seem to fly by like your first month in this world. With our entire car buying adventures complete, I have had so many more hours to just sit and stare at you while you sleep. I know, it might sound a bit goofy, but when you are asleep I just want to eat those little cheeks and nibble on your nose! From the very beginning, you have dreams and nightmares that awake you in little screams. Your little screams, make my heart hurt for you, I just want to comfort and protect you. I am very curious to know what it is that makes you smile while you sleep.

“You are so beautiful. You are so cute. You are so pretty.” Anytime your daddy or I say those words to you, you smile from ear to ear. It makes me happy to see you so happy. I promise to protect you from the evils of the world and to keep you always close to my heart whether you are near or far.

You are starting to discover more and more about yourself. Your hands are your favorite thing, it is so cute to watch you try and stick your long fingers in your mouth. Poor thing, you have choked yourself once or twice with them.

You are a momma’s girl, is what everyone keeps telling me. Secret is, I love that. I love that sometimes you simply just want mommy to hold you. I love when I come home;I am greeted with a big smile from you. I think I enjoy cuddling with you, just as much as you do. Resting my face against your soft little cheeks while you sleep, is pure heaven.

I feel so blessed that each day is just the perfect amount of time. Yes, of course you are getting big so fast, but I feel like each day is just the right amount of time, to give you lots and lots of love!

When a baby is brought into this world, we all have expectations for what they can be. Well of course, we have a few suggestions: a little athlete of some sort, playing ball with your big sister Lily, becoming the best at whatever you choose for this life. But most of all, I want for you, sweet little girl is be happy and to know you will always have a safe and loving place in your mommy and daddy’s arms.

It is my wish that you are able to feel the never ending love that I have for you. I look forward to the days of mommy daughter dates, whatever you want to do, we shall. But for now I will enjoy each and every smile.

Mommy loves you so much

A Letter of Love {Orlando Newborn Photographer}

Dear Willow,

Happy 1 month Birthday! It's hard to believe I have been blessed to wake up every day to see your sweet little face. Mommy loves you so much. While you were sleeping peacefully in my belly, I thought I knew you, I thought I knew how much I loved you. I was already worried about you before I saw your beautiful face, if I hadn’t felt your big little feet in awhile, you would calm my fears with you adorably strong kicks.  I had no idea how much I would love you and how much you would change me and my heart.

Mommy won’t lie, I was terrified to be your mommy. Many have told me that I would be a great mommy one day and were surprised you were going to be my first with the love and compassion I had for other peoples’ little babies. I was downright terrified, terrified I wouldn’t know how to take care of you or comfort you or be the rock that you needed as you adjusted to the outside world.

On the evening of March 2nd, I was relaxing after a morning of trying to convince you to join us in the world, when…Bam! You were ready. Together we worked in perfect unison through the labor process, within 8 hours you were taking your first swim in the world. Welcoming you into the world via Water Birth only made sense with your mommy’s love of water and all the swimming you did inside.  As you lay on my chest, it was all so unbelievable; it was hard to believe you were my daughter. I have had the pleasure of holding so many babies over the years, I was having a hard time believing your mommy and daddy had created you.  I would honestly have to remind myself at least once a day that I was given the miracle of being your mommy, even now at 5 weeks I am eternally grateful.

As the days and nights came and went, I started to get to know you better, got to know your temper cries of hunger and your whimpers to be held.  No worries, mommy will hold you when you are sad, mommy will hold you when you are sleepy, mommy will hold you when you have a booboo, mommy will hold you as long as you would like.

My wish for you, is to feel loved always, to feel secure, safe and happy in my arms. I am so blessed to be taking on this journey of motherhood with you.

My love for you grows stronger and stronger with each passing day. May god bless you from the tip of your nose, to the tips of your toes.

Mommy loves you always and forever.

Maternity Leave

We have we been over the past few months? Cooking our sweet little bun in the oven! We are currently expecting our precious little girl any day now. Thought she might have been a February baby but here we are the first day of March, awaiting our cutie pie :)

It has been a joy over the past 5 years watching many of my clients begin the journey of motherhood. I could not be anymore excited to begin this journey, especially with the man of my dreams!

There is no "exact" date as to when I plan to return to a regular studio schedule, however I plan to spend the next 6 weeks or so focused on our new little family.

If you are interested in scheduling a session after April 15, 2013 please e-mail info@erikahopkinsphotography.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you to our wonderful friends and clients for being a part of this journey!
